"God bless Texas!"
C.D. Parker[src]

C.D. was a retired Ranger and a bar owner at "C.D.'s Bar & Grill". He's a good friend of the Rangers, and also of Trent Malloy and Carlos Sandoval. CD is always able to put a smile on their faces...especially James Trivette. CD loves to pull Trivette's leg; Trivette, in turn, loves to tease CD about his chili. Jimmy's nickname for C.D. is "Big Dog".

Biography[]

Early life[]

Little is known about CD's past. Prior to becoming a Texas Ranger, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Ranger Parker[]

C.D. was Walker's first partner as a Ranger, and was ultimately inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame. He served in the Rangers for 30+ years. CD recollects (and often exaggerates) assorted stories from his Ranger days, which others tend to joke that he should publish. He solved every case that he was ever assigned to, and even came out of retirement to solve a case that had gone cold.

Restauranteur[]

After a bullet in the hip forced him to retire, C.D. opened his own bar-and-grill. He won numerous chili and BBQ championships.

Death[]

In 2000, CD died of an apparent heart attack, while on a fishing trip. This was later revealed to be ricin poisoning by the criminal mastermind Lavocat. CD's Place closed promptly after his funeral; its fate thereafter was never mentioned.

Behind the Scenes[]

Trivia[]

  • CD's signature weapons are his two twelve-gauge shotguns and his .38 Smith and Wesson snub-nose revolver.
  • CD is rarely shown killing an antagonist: once, in the episode "Hall of Fame"; once again, in the 2-part episode "The Wedding".
  • CD is a devout Christian and has only cursed a handful of times.
  • An early draft of "One Riot, One Ranger" gives CD's last name as Washington (read it backwards, folks) ...partly as an effort to avoid confusion with Pamela Anderson's Baywatch character, CJ Parker.
  • CD was named after another real-life native Texan, actor-turned-wine magnate Fess Parker (of "Davy Crockett" and "Daniel Boone" fame). Coincidentally, Parker was later offered the role of Gordon Cahill by WTR's producers, but claimed he was too busy.
